Plain English. Minimal data. No selling. Ever.

Effective date: 25 May 2026

In short

PassPal is built to help you feel calmer about driving — not to harvest your data. We collect as little as possible, never sell your information, never share it with advertisers, and never see your card details. You can use the core app without an account.

Who we are

PassPal (“we”, “us”, “our”) is a calm driving confidence support app for learner and anxious drivers. We are operated from the United Kingdom and act as the data controller for the information described below.

What we collect

  • Anonymous usage analytics — which sections are opened, how long a session lasts, and general device type. This is not linked to your name or identity and is used only to improve the app.
  • Restore-purchase email (optional) — if you buy the full kit, you may enter an email address at checkout. We store it only so you can restore your purchase later on another device. It is never used for marketing.
  • Local device data — settings like audio and haptics preferences, onboarding status, and a randomly generated device identifier used to remember your premium unlock on this device.
  • Support messages — if you email us, we keep your message and reply so we can help you.

What we do NOT collect

  • We do not collect your name, address, phone number or date of birth.
  • We do not collect your driving licence number or test booking details.
  • We do not intentionally collect any health or mental health information.
  • We do not collect payment card details (see Payments below).
  • We do not require an account or password to use the core app.

Payments (Stripe)

Premium access is a one-time £2.99 unlock processed by Stripe, our payment provider. When you pay, your card details are entered directly into Stripe's secure checkout and are never seen or stored by PassPal. We receive only a confirmation that the payment succeeded, along with the email you optionally provided for restoring your purchase. Stripe processes your payment under its own privacy policy at stripe.com/privacy.

Analytics (Microsoft Clarity)

We use Microsoft Clarity to understand how the app is used in aggregate — for example, which calming tools help most. Clarity may record anonymous session behaviour such as taps, scrolls and navigation patterns, with personal details masked by default. This data helps us make the app calmer and more useful. It is not used for advertising and is not linked to your identity. Microsoft's privacy notice applies and is available at privacy.microsoft.com.

Cookies and local storage

PassPal uses your browser's local storage to remember small things on your device, such as your premium unlock status, your audio and haptics settings, and whether you've completed onboarding. Stripe and Microsoft Clarity may set their own cookies when those services load. You can clear all of this at any time by clearing your browser's site data for PassPal.

How long we keep your data

  • Restore-purchase emails are kept for as long as your unlock is valid (lifetime), so we can help you restore it.
  • Anonymous analytics are retained by our analytics provider on their standard schedule (typically up to ~13 months).
  • Local device data stays on your device until you clear it.
  • Support emails are kept for up to 2 years, then deleted.

Your rights

If you are in the UK or EU, you have the right to access, correct, delete or export any personal data we hold about you, and to object to or restrict how we use it. To exercise any of these rights, email us using the contact details below. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit (HTTPS), restricted server-side access to the restore-purchase database, and using trusted providers (Stripe, Microsoft) for payments and analytics. No system is ever 100% secure, but we keep the surface small by collecting as little as possible.

Children's privacy

PassPal is intended for people old enough to be learning to drive in the UK (generally 17+). It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes we'll update the “Effective date” at the top of this page. Continued use of PassPal after changes means you accept the updated policy.
